Description
This striking sculpture features bold, curved metal forms that merge fluidity with rigidity. Crafted with precision, the steel curves cascade downward like a waterfall frozen in motion. The oxidized surface provides rich, earthy tones of gray and brown, enhancing its organic yet industrial essence. At the top, intertwined loops offer a sense of movement and complexity, drawing the eye upward. The artist masterfully balances weight and elegance, as the heavy steel appears almost delicate. This piece challenges traditional perceptions of metalwork, evoking both strength and grace. Its minimalist yet dramatic stance makes it a powerful focal point, inviting viewers to contemplate the intrinsic beauty of industrial materials. This artwork's unique combination of form, texture, and movement exemplifies innovative contemporary sculpture.
Presentation
Frédérick Mazoir is a French born in 1968 sculptor who lives & works in Plélan Le Grand in Brittany, France. Graduated from Beaux-Arts in Quimper, Reims and Rennes, he is laureate of the Foundation Marcel Bleustein Blanchet pour la Vocation in 1996. In the movement of Lyrical Abstraction, his works are inspired by all natural, visible and invisible phenomenas and the incandescent matter that we call Magma, through the physical and chemical metamorphosis of iron under the action of intense heat. Frédérick Mazoir combines basic forging techniques with the element of Iron such as folding, twisting, stretching and compression to obtain sculptures reminiscent of organic shapes and certain accumulations of geological stratas.
