Description
This artwork is a striking example of abstract ceramic sculpture, characterized by its fluid and organic form. The piece resembles a gracefully folded structure, akin to a soft, draped fabric captured in motion. Its surface exhibits a rich, tactile texture with a gradient of earthy hues, predominantly dark browns fading into subtle reddish tones, suggesting a natural patina. The interplay of light and shadow across its undulating contours creates a dynamic visual experience, drawing the viewer's eye along its gentle curves. The ambiguity of its form invites multiple interpretations, evoking both the elegance of natural formations and the simplicity of minimalist design. This work stands as a testament to the artist's mastery in manipulating clay to achieve a balance between solidity and movement, offering a profound exploration of texture and form.
Presentation
Frédérick Mazoir is a French born in 1968 sculptor who lives & works in Plélan Le Grand in Brittany, France. Graduated from Beaux-Arts in Quimper, Reims and Rennes, he is laureate of the Foundation Marcel Bleustein Blanchet pour la Vocation in 1996. In the movement of Lyrical Abstraction, his works are inspired by all natural, visible and invisible phenomenas and the incandescent matter that we call Magma, through the physical and chemical metamorphosis of iron under the action of intense heat. Frédérick Mazoir combines basic forging techniques with the element of Iron such as folding, twisting, stretching and compression to obtain sculptures reminiscent of organic shapes and certain accumulations of geological stratas.
