Description
Isabel Miramontes has made seats their specialty. Their characters come to life within their supports. After "Chaise" (Chair), "Assis" (Seated), "Fauteuil" (Armchair), "Divan" (Couch), "Songe" (Dream), and the famous "Rendez-Vous" exhausted, both in small and monumental formats, the artist creates a brand new bench titled "En Attendant..." (While Waiting...). Their creative force bursts forth once again with this unprecedented work, through which the artist offers us a feminine and romantic version of the amorous rendezvous. The woman waits seated on a bench, the slats of which blend with her dress, delicately crossing her fingers in the hope that her rendezvous will live up to her dreams.
It is a highly contemplative sculpture by its geometry and its symbolism.
Isabel Miramontes likes creating sculptures of people in a seated position where the body merges with the chair, taking on the same form. It's always highly poetic yet intense in nature... and can be interpreted in various ways, within her deep contemplation, in her meditative universe, in her dreams... The artist wanted to portray this intense feeling of connection to one's own spiritual world that each of us can feel when faced with a challenge or when we need rest and reflection. This sensory alchemy gently leads the character to cross her hands and fingers within a body that protects all her thoughts, in a moment when she is purified by serenity in the face of presence. If you observe the person's face, her head leans forward and she is determined yet peaceful. The face emerges smoothly from the streams of thoughts expressed in a language that can only be intuitively understood by the subconscious. The face, which expresses the desire to dream, lives outside of time and space, also thanks in part to the use of a tenacious and powerful material such as bronze, ultimately resulting in the opening of new landscapes of the soul. Her two feet come out gracefully from the chair and seek an answer that one can imagine, but in all finesse and elegance. It is a moment of renewal, where the character allows herself to be nourished by faith and reflection. This sculpture takes us on a journey to a precious moment of greater self... When you look at the feature of the face, you can't help but be captivated by the profound reverie, along with that fluttering piece of fabric. One could even say, at that precise moment... spring is passing by!
Isabel Miramontes was born in 1962 in Santiago de Compostella in Spain. This eminent place of pilgrimage, which is of Celtic origin, the warm wind and sea, always fascinates her and remains for her a magical area. The body, posture, movement and essence of human life are at the heart of Isabel Miramontes’ work. Her works show fascinating and contemplative figure, abstract bodies cut into strips, sketched human bodies, associated with shapes or objects and others, more realistic. At the height of the usual sculpture, Isabel Miramontes opposes an apparent emptiness. For the artist, sculpture is not a block of material to which a shape is given, sculpture is a void to which the artist gives a surface. The human existence, at once concrete and impalpable, is made of flesh and bones and that part of essential emptiness which our emotions constitute. The cuts of these characters give the image of a body reduced to its footprint. The tender form of the body of her figurines who seems ready to faint. Matter resduced to the essential that gently transforms itself into emotions and forgotten sensations, the only one memory left of the the body, the supreme value of its destiny.

Presentation
Isabel Miramontes was born in Santiago de Compostela, this high place of pilgrimage, of Celtic origin, still fascinates her and remains a magical country for her. But it was in Belgium, in Brussels, that the artist grew up and studied: she obtained a diploma in Plastic Arts at the Institut Sainte-Marie.
She continued her training in 1988 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Saint-Gilles, in Patrick Pouillart's studio, where she acquired solid experience in drawing and sketching on live models. Isabel Miramontes retains from this experience the need to fix at all times the gestures of the man, attitudes and impressions thrown on multiple sketchbooks, so many testimonies of the subtle and perspicacious gaze that she casts around her. It was in 1994, in the studio of a sculptor friend, that she passionately discovered sculpture, which became the preferred means of expression to which she now devoted herself. Every day, Isabel Miramontes isolates herself in her studio. There, with fervor, echoing her sketches, she shapes the earth, explores new forms to give substance to her inner life and transmit her vision of the world.
Struck by a silhouette, a movement, a symbol, a thought, Isabel Miramontes translates the human attitude with deep and sincere emotion. The plastic language of Miramontes imposes the human being represented in all the ambiguity of his power and his fragility, his confinement and his desire for freedom, his dream and his triumph. This fascinating character, a synthesis of forms and thoughts, expresses the reality of life with its moments of happiness but also of drama, of abandonment but also of tension, a character who, undoubtedly, challenges each of us in the depths of his be.
