Description
This captivating artwork features an organic sculptural form, affixed to the wall with vibrant blue laces. The contrast between the glossy white surface of the piece and the blue laces is striking, immediately drawing attention. The form evokes a sense of movement and fluidity, as if animated by an invisible force. The choice to suspend laces, an everyday element, adds a dimension of familiarity and intrigue, prompting reflection on the tension between the ordinary and the extraordinary. The shadows cast on the wall reinforce the depth and dimension of the work, creating a harmonious dance between light and matter. This singular creation defies traditional artistic conventions, encouraging the viewer to reassess their perception of art and everyday materials.
Presentation
Her work, exhibited in solo and group exhibitions across Iceland, the USA, Europe, Asia, and South America, explores highly symbolic, multi-layered installations. She integrates diverse materials—everyday objects like ropes, curtains, and work lights—redefining their meaning to evoke new perceptions of space. Viewer participation is central to her work, encouraging imaginative engagement.
Björk also composes digitally, blending sound, video, and sculpture into immersive installations where sound transforms into a visual and conceptual experience. With a background in music and classical ballet, she harmonizes multiple media, allowing her installations to take on a life of their own. Recognized with awards and funding for her artistic and educational contributions, her work challenges perception and reinterprets the familiar.
