There are moments when the body becomes poetry, when a simple movement expresses everything the heart longs to say.
In Higher Expectations II, Marc de Corte captures a woman suspended between earth and sky, her body unfolding in a graceful, almost dreamlike gesture. One foot touches the ground while the other seems to carry her beyond it, as though she were stepping into a world of infinite possibilities. Her head gently tilts upward, her posture open and serene, embodying the quiet courage of someone who dares to expect more from life.
There is something profoundly moving in this figure. She does not appear to be running away from the world, but rising above its limitations. Her movement suggests freedom, self-discovery, and the beautiful moment when we choose to believe in ourselves again.
Placed beside water, her reflection creates a second, almost magical presence. The sculpture seems to exist between two worlds — the tangible and the imagined, the woman we are and the person we are still becoming. The surrounding nature becomes part of the artwork, turning every change of light, every ripple, and every season into a new interpretation.

• Born in 1974 in Nieuwpoort, Belgium
• Marc De Corte proves in his work that classic and contemporary can be perfectly combined. This is why he regrets that modeling is increasingly being left behind in the teaching of contemporary art. Marc De Corte's images are born from a quest for beauty, and because they must come from his heart.
• What makes bronze statues unique and so sought after by art lovers is the movement they exude. Marc De Corte likes to draw inspiration from modern dance, but there is also a very strong Art Nouveau influence. The result is graceful images with balance as the main theme.
• In addition to a classical and more romantic language, Marc De Corte does not shy away from modern issues: his works are characterized by distance and the desire for contact in a pandemic context, the independence and strength of women, the search for one's own identity in relationships with others and maintaining mental balance as one of the main challenges for each individual strongly questioned in our society today.
