Description
Set of 3 miniature stones. "I collected these stones and driftwood while walking in my new region. Having left my daughter's father and the Paris region, I am rebuilding my life, little by little, stone by stone on a new path. I wanted, and needed, to highlight each step. I embroider them, I cover them with beads like jewels of this nature that I love so much! This recent work speaks to me when I walk in the forest or by the sea, but also in the city, where sometimes a stone is abandoned on a sidewalk. I like to bring them together, they are all part of this path of life that I trace day after day."
These works, installed on raw stones, showcase a harmonious symbiosis between nature and textile art. The delicate details, crafted with green threads and beads, evoke a lush miniature garden. The varied textures, created through complex weaving techniques, skillfully simulate dense greenery and a diverse array of plants. Each section of embroidery is adorned with floral and botanical motifs, depicting cacti and succulents with remarkable precision. The vivid shades of green contrast with the natural roughness of the stone, adding depth and dimension to the piece. The integration of natural and synthetic materials creates an interactive dialogue between the mineral and plant worlds. This work captivates with its boldness and organic beauty, illustrating the masterful fusion of nature and contemporary art.
Presentation
Working on used fabrics, sometimes fabrics from a lifetime, which are neglected to the point of being thrown away, is obvious to me. What some see as old rags are for me real intimate secrets that have been forgotten and become the brushes of my textile writing. My scissors cut them, my needle embroiders them, my thread brings them together to breathe new life into them like a duty of memory that would like to draw attention to the richness of our heritage that we are eroding a little more each day.
