Description
Atlas, the Tetanized Titan – A Provocative and Ecological Sculpture by Arson.
Arson, an iconoclastic French sculptor based in Drôme Provençale, delivers a masterful work with Atlas, the Tetanized Titan, a powerful piece of contemporary art that serves as an urgent ecological wake-up call. Standing at 60 cm, this sculpture, available in resin with rusted metal or Italian antique bronze effects, captures the mythological Titan Atlas, condemned to bear the weight of the world on his shoulders.
After two millennia of titanic effort, Atlas appears exhausted, a poignant reflection of a Earth ravaged by humanity's reckless exploitation. With his signature audacity, Arson denounces human irresponsibility: mankind's relentless plundering of resources burdens the Titan to the point of collapse, pushing him to abandon his load. Without Zeus, who ensures the endurance of his punishment, the world—lacking human wisdom—would face ruin.
Signed and numbered in a limited edition of 20, this sculpture embodies Arson's distinctive style, blending raw aesthetics with profound societal critique.
The resin finishes, evoking the wear of time through rusted metal or patinated bronze textures, amplify the message: the Earth, like Atlas, is at its breaking point. Trained at the Beaux-Arts and shaped by his architectural background, Arson masterfully molds materials to convey unsettling truths.
Atlas aligns with his provocative portfolio, alongside works like The Plank Tree, which critiques deforestation, or the vibrant Esculmaux and Bonbons pop, where sensuality and irreverent humor intertwine with commentary on consumerism. Every detail of Atlas—from the Titan's weary curves to the weathered resin textures—reflects Arson's craftsmanship and commitment to challenging contemporary art conventions.
This sculpture is more than an aesthetic object; it's a call to rethink our relationship with the environment and humanity. Displayed within Arson's singular universe, Atlas resonates as an urgent plea for collective responsibility.

Presentation
Born in Paris in 1953, descended from a family from Nice, Arson is a libertarian and transgressive artist. Trained at the Beaux-Arts from the age of 16, he explored painting, architecture, pottery, and sculpture before forging a unique signature, marked by a bold sensuality.
A lover of women, whom he sees as a path to the absolute, Arson celebrates their forms with a fetishistic and poetic gaze. His works, inspired by Duchamp's Dadaism and Magritte's Surrealism, invite us to go beyond appearances. As he says of his Esculmau: "This is not a mirror, nor an ass, it is an Esculmau."
Provocative and anarchist, Arson sculpts raw and decorative pieces that defy taboos and unleash the imagination. His creations, driven by a passion for materials and a reflection on femininity, disrupt the codes of an overly consensual world. In his work, form reveals substance, offering a visual poetry that shakes and amazes.
