Description
The Dancing Bird seems less to depict an animal than a body caught at the threshold of movement. Lionel Wodecki suggests the presence of an invisible dancer: a taut, almost muscular line rising from the base like a leg in extension. The sculpture does not describe a gesture; it retains its inner vibration — that fragile instant when balance precedes flight.
The elongated curve acts like a spine, a vertical energy carrying the form into the air. The wings, reduced to purified planes, evoke arms opened within a leap, suspended between control and surrender. Everything feels light, yet tension is palpable: the bronze preserves the memory of a silent effort, that of a body unfolding.
Within this economy of material, emptiness becomes a dance partner. It surrounds the sculpture, extends its lines, and transforms mass into movement. The bird is no longer merely a natural figure; it becomes a metaphor for the dancer, for breath and freedom — a fleeting presence captured at the precise moment when gravity yields to grace.
Presentation
Contemporary animal sculptor.
Lionel Wodecki, born in 1970 in Somain, has always been a draftsman, a designer by trade, and now an animal artist since 2023.
Simplicity has always been the driving force behind his work as a designer, but the study of living things has revealed a new dimension in him: the art of suspended movement and capturing the moment.
His sculptures exude a serene beauty mixed with paradox, between strength and fragility, animal inspiration and human resonance, as if the animals he staged were endowed with psychology.
