Description
An overturned can of paint lies on its side, as if frozen mid-movement. Its slightly dented metal body is marked with white traces and fine splashes that already tell a story of matter and movement.
From its gaping opening escapes a brilliant, almost fluorescent green—an acidic, vibrant, intensely alive green. The paint has spread across the surface in a smooth, glossy pool, tracing organic, irregular, almost sensual contours that contrast with the cold, mineral quality of the marbled grey floor.
The visual dialogue is powerful: on one side, the rigidity of the metal, the raw and worn texture of the container; on the other, the luminous fluidity of the pigment, still fresh, which seems to breathe. One can almost perceive the slowness of the liquid as it spreads, thickens, captures the light and reflects it like a lacquered surface.
This scene evokes both accident and creation. A moment suspended between chaos and birth, where matter comes to life upon contact with the ground. It is a simple, almost commonplace gesture—but one sublimated by the chromatic force of this incandescent green, which transforms the neutral ground into a territory of expression.
Presentation
When metal becomes emotion…
Yannick Bouillault's studio is located on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean in western France. It is in the face of this vast expanse that he has forged a close connection with creation since a young age. Trained in boilermaking, he first worked as a technician before devoting himself fully to sculpture in 2016, driven by a spontaneous and visceral impulse.
Passionate about materials—mainly steel—and fueled by philosophy, Yannick Bouillault strives to reveal the hidden beauty of metal. With his technical mastery, he transforms this raw, cold material into a vehicle for emotion. Each work is born from a dialogue between reflection and feeling, between tension and calm.
Curious about phenomena and attentive to the energy of the world, he draws inspiration from both movement and absence, from the visible and the invisible. In his work, realism and surrealism intertwine to give birth to sculptures that are both powerful and sensitive. Playing with shapes and colors, he gives metal an unexpected lightness, sometimes even a poetic grace.
A self-taught sculptor, Yannick Bouillault has established himself as a unique voice in contemporary metal. His works, exhibited in France and abroad, now travel the world, driven by a universal emotion.
All of the artist's sculptures are designed and crafted entirely by him. Each piece comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
