Description
This work plays with the conventions of the artist's studio, transforming them into contemporary sculpture. A deliberately crumpled metal paint can appears frozen in the moment its contents overflow. Vibrant yellow paint spills from the container, trickles down the dented sides, and spreads across the base with striking fluidity. A paintbrush lies nearby, as if abandoned just seconds before, reinforcing the illusion of an interrupted gesture.
The contrast between the crumpled silver metal and the vibrant yellow creates a strong visual tension. The work captures a fleeting moment—that of creation in progress—and transforms it into a permanent object. Poised between realism and subversion, it celebrates chance, the energy of the artistic gesture, and matter in motion.
Both playful and elegant, this sculpture evokes the spontaneity of the creative act while questioning the boundary between tool, material, and the artwork itself. A luminous and contemporary piece that brings a touch of color and humor to any space.

When metal becomes emotion…
Yannick Bouillault's studio is located on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean in western France. It is in the face of this vast expanse that he has forged a close connection with creation since a young age. Trained in boilermaking, he first worked as a technician before devoting himself fully to sculpture in 2016, driven by a spontaneous and visceral impulse.
Passionate about materials—mainly steel—and fueled by philosophy, Yannick Bouillault strives to reveal the hidden beauty of metal. With his technical mastery, he transforms this raw, cold material into a vehicle for emotion. Each work is born from a dialogue between reflection and feeling, between tension and calm.
Curious about phenomena and attentive to the energy of the world, he draws inspiration from both movement and absence, from the visible and the invisible. In his work, realism and surrealism intertwine to give birth to sculptures that are both powerful and sensitive. Playing with shapes and colors, he gives metal an unexpected lightness, sometimes even a poetic grace.
A self-taught sculptor, Yannick Bouillault has established himself as a unique voice in contemporary metal. His works, exhibited in France and abroad, now travel the world, driven by a universal emotion.
All of the artist's sculptures are designed and crafted entirely by him. Each piece comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
