Description

With this work, Philippe Buil continues his unique exploration of metal lace, transforming an everyday object into a precious and poetic work of art.

This unique sculpture, crafted from steel and bronze, represents a champagne bottle entirely composed of an openwork structure. Created using a masterful technique of applying molten metal drop by drop, the material unfolds into an organic network that evokes both the delicacy of lace and the raw strength of metal.

The bottle's elongated silhouette, perfectly balanced between density and transparency, captures the light and casts shifting shadows, lending the artwork an almost lifelike presence. This luminous vibration subtly evokes the effervescence of champagne, a symbol of celebration and refinement.

At the crossroads of figuration and abstraction, the work embodies the artist's characteristic dialogue between matter and lightness, technical precision and spontaneity. Each irregularity becomes an aesthetic element, reinforcing the unique and timeless character of the piece.

Signed and delivered with a certificate of authenticity, it reflects Philippe Buil's unique approach, where metal becomes a form of haute couture.

Presentation

Philippe Buil, born in Marseille in 1964, moved to Saint-Étienne at the age of five. Introduced to art at an early age by his parents, he developed a passion for sculpture, which he combined with his experience in the metal industry. This unique blend of skills enables him to create metal works of remarkable lightness and delicacy, akin to lace.

Buil began by working in steel, before turning to bronze, which he masters in his own workshop. He also incorporates other materials such as aluminum, leather and precious woods, enriching his creations. His distinctive style, combining the hardness of metals with Greco-Roman forms, gives rise to what he calls "metallic haute-couture".

Since his first exhibitions in 2012, Philippe Buil has rapidly gained recognition, exhibiting his work in Belgium, Switzerland, Canada and the United States. In 2015, he introduced 24-carat gold leaf to his bronze sculptures, giving them a unique and prestigious sheen. Each of his pieces is unique, captivating collectors and art lovers the world over.

Philippe Buil continues to innovate and explore new techniques, always faithful to his commitment to do everything himself, from design to manufacture. His inexhaustible creativity and unique technical approach have made him a key artist on the contemporary scene, with a marked presence in galleries and international exhibitions.
