Description
This captivating sculpture is distinguished by its slender, elegant silhouette, expressed through a mirror-polished stainless steel structure of remarkable brilliance. Its bold, ascending curve evokes movement and freedom, while the central circular void creates a captivating interplay of light and shadow. The reflective surface captures and redefines the surrounding environment, subtly integrating the landscape into its form. Resting on a simple base, the sculpture appears to dance delicately on the gravel, contrasting with the lush greenery around it. Its magnetic presence invites the viewer to explore its various angles and perspectives, revealing new dimensions each time. Through its harmonious combination of minimalism and dynamism, this work encourages contemplation and reflection, forging a dialogue between modern art and nature.
Presentation
Born in 1988 in Datong, Shanxi Province, Jingyu Bai is a contemporary Chinese artist whose practice explores the aesthetic potential of polished stainless steel. Trained in sculpture, he has developed a formal language based on the tension between matter and void, balance and movement. His work follows in the footsteps of artists such as Zheng Lu, Zhan Wang, and Anish Kapoor, who use the brilliance of metal to question perception and spirituality. The clean lines and reflective surfaces of his works evoke both the Chinese tradition of metalwork and the legacy of Western minimalism. Through a dialogue between tradition and modernity, Jingyu Bai has established himself as a rising star in international contemporary sculpture.
