Description
A dented paint can, as if compressed by an all-too-human, too-hasty gesture. The metal retains the memory of pressure, of a silent accident. Inside, a dense, almost too vibrant red seeps to the surface and overflows without restraint. It doesn't simply flow—it escapes.
The paint slides down the wall, tracing unpredictable lines, splashing, then surrendering itself to the smooth surface of the base. A puddle stretches out, organic, almost carnal, capturing the light in its brilliant reflections.
Beside it, the brush rests, abandoned after the act. Its presence suggests an interrupted action, a suspended gesture. As if the artist had left the scene at the precise moment when everything shifts—letting the paint speak for itself.
Between control and excess, the object becomes a narrative: that of an overflow, of a tension that gives way, of a beauty born in accident.
Presentation
When metal becomes emotion…
Yannick Bouillault's studio is located on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean in western France. It is in the face of this vast expanse that he has forged a close connection with creation since a young age. Trained in boilermaking, he first worked as a technician before devoting himself fully to sculpture in 2016, driven by a spontaneous and visceral impulse.
Passionate about materials—mainly steel—and fueled by philosophy, Yannick Bouillault strives to reveal the hidden beauty of metal. With his technical mastery, he transforms this raw, cold material into a vehicle for emotion. Each work is born from a dialogue between reflection and feeling, between tension and calm.
Curious about phenomena and attentive to the energy of the world, he draws inspiration from both movement and absence, from the visible and the invisible. In his work, realism and surrealism intertwine to give birth to sculptures that are both powerful and sensitive. Playing with shapes and colors, he gives metal an unexpected lightness, sometimes even a poetic grace.
A self-taught sculptor, Yannick Bouillault has established himself as a unique voice in contemporary metal. His works, exhibited in France and abroad, now travel the world, driven by a universal emotion.
All of the artist's sculptures are designed and crafted entirely by him. Each piece comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
