Description
This sculpture humorously and elegantly subverts the world of luxury automobiles by transforming a wrapped candy into a true work of art.
Made in a bright, vibrant yellow, it takes the iconic shape of a papillote, a symbol of indulgence and childhood. On its surface sits the famous prancing horse inspired by the world of Ferrari, creating a striking contrast between the prestige, speed, and carefree nature of the candy.
The artwork plays on the codes of consumer society and desire. It lightly questions our fascination with iconic brands, transforming an ephemeral object into a precious and timeless sculpture. At once pop, playful, and provocative, this creation immediately catches the eye thanks to its sunny yellow hue and lacquered surfaces that capture the light.
A piece that blends nostalgia, luxury and popular culture with a lot of wit.
Presentation
Orvalis, born in 1968 in Rhône-Alpes, is a self-taught artist whose world unfolds exclusively through sculpture. Working with resin with an almost instinctive precision, he shapes forms that are both playful and striking, where the material seems to capture a moment suspended between irony and desire, between apparent lightness and deeper reflection.
His approach, free from any academic constraints, is rooted in a spontaneous, visual style, nourished by contemporary codes and the symbols of our time. Everyday objects are reinterpreted, repurposed, and elevated, subtly shifting from the familiar to the iconic. They thus become fragments of pop culture, revisited with elegance, where humor converses with a form of almost luxurious sophistication.
Each piece by Orvalis embodies a delicate duality: between indulgence and prestige, between accessibility and desirability. The resin, which he masters with finesse, becomes a true language—a medium where brilliance catches the eye while the volumes invite a more intimate interpretation. Through his sculptures, the object is transformed, transcending its primary function to become a presence, an emotion, a strong and instantly recognizable visual signature.
