Maneki Neko Love, 2026

This sculpture represents a Maneki-neko, the famous Japanese lucky cat, revisited in a resolutely urban and contemporary aesthetic.

Made on a white ceramic base, the work is entirely covered with an entanglement of handwritten words, hearts, arrows, and graffiti painted in black and bright pink. The repeated inscriptions of the word "Love", associated with sketched hearts and spontaneous graphic design, evoke the energy of street art and the walls of free expression of large metropolises.

The cat retains the traditional attributes of the Maneki-neko: its smiling face with half-closed eyes, its raised paw symbolizing prosperity and welcome, as well as its red collar adorned with a gold medal. These classic elements contrast with the contemporary graphic treatment that transforms this popular object into a collectible work of art.

The deliberately reduced palette – white, black, pink, and a few gold touches – reinforces the visual impact of the composition. The superimpositions of texts and symbols create an impression of movement and spontaneity, giving each face of the sculpture a unique character.

At the crossroads of Japanese culture, pop art, and urban art, this creation diverts a traditional symbol of luck and prosperity to make it a contemporary piece where love, optimism, and artistic expression occupy a central place. Its compact format and graphic aesthetic make it a highly characterful decorative work, capable of bringing a playful and modern touch to an interior.
