Description

With this second incarnation of "Toxic," EAZ performs a radical reversal: the emerald has vanished, and it is now an invader of immaculate white that rises from the darkness. The same compact silhouette, the same folded tentacles — but the creature seems to have shed its skin, abandoning its precious shell for one of porcelain. Against the deep black of the background, it radiates like a lunar specter, a milky apparition in the sidereal night.

The artist's signature technique here plays on purity: each pixel is a paper tile, hand-cut, beveled, and lacquered, and the glossy white of the squares evokes by turns ceramic, polished bone, or the keys of a phantom keyboard. Stripped of all color, the figure reveals the essential — the relief, the light, the naked geometry of the pixel become object.

But it is the background that holds the true surprise: in the darkness, the horde has adorned itself in gold. Metallic invaders, printed in golden and coppery reflections, glitter among their ink-black counterparts — a precious armada that reveals itself only with the light and the angle of view, like a treasure lurking in the night. This ballet of fleeting glints animates the entire surface and reverses the roles: here, it is the escort that shines, and the scout that turns to ghost.

The title then takes on a new flavor: this white too pure, this gold too seductive — toxicity has become elegant, almost luxurious. Set against the emerald version, this nocturnal "Toxic" is its sumptuous negative: a piece of precious sobriety, somewhere between goldsmithing and chiaroscuro, where the invasion dresses itself in its finest attire.

Presentation

Based in Strasbourg, EAZ has spent several years developing a singular practice at the crossroads of design, fine craftsmanship, and popular culture.

After many years creating and manufacturing for the worlds of toys, entertainment, interior design, music, and architecture, EAZ set out to reconnect with that part of his childhood.

Through a universe of his own making, nourished by pop culture, where the object becomes a pure medium of expression, he combines technical precision with a raw aesthetic to reinterpret the icons that shaped the collective imagination of an entire generation.

Heir to a deeply rooted DIY (Do It Yourself) culture, EAZ favors an experimental and independent approach. Whether miniatures, prototypes, or one-of-a-kind pieces, each creation bears witness to a constant dialogue between material and intention.

In the intimacy of his studio, he notably deconstructs the Lego minifigure, fusing it with the mythological figures of his childhood. These resin sculptures, entirely shaped by hand, transform the mass-produced toy into a sophisticated artistic artifact.

A multidisciplinary artist, EAZ launches a new creative cycle in 2026, one that returns to his origins: the art of Papercut. Through a masterful layering of colored papers, he transposes his usual three-dimensional works into flat, vibrant compositions. This demanding and delicate cutting technique offers a pared-down rereading of his favorite themes.

From the heroes of Japanese animation to the iconic pixels of the arcade — such as Space Invaders and Pac-Man — EAZ elevates memory into an object of contemplation.

"EAZ's style is defined by a constant tension between the nostalgia of childhood dreams and rigorous technical mastery." By transforming the playful object into a lasting work of art, he invites the viewer into an introspection that is both joyful and profound — a journey back to their own cultural foundations.
