Description
In Landscape with a tree, Egor Plotnikov reduces the landscape to its most essential elements: a solitary figure, a bare tree, and an architectural volume with clearly defined contours. The monochrome surface eliminates any anecdotal detail, thus drawing attention to the scale, distance, and the relationship between the human presence and its environment.
The figure stands at the edge of a closed space, while the tree rises within it, like a fragment of another landscape. This tension between openness and enclosure, monumentality and fragility, is characteristic of Plotnikov's sculptural practice, in which the landscape becomes less a representation of nature than a construction that is both psychological and spatial.
