Description
In The Sky Above Our House, Plotnikov depicts the sky as a space of freedom and contemplation. Clouds become the true protagonists of his canvases: in perpetual motion, they transcend borders, places, and seasons. The works evoke diverse territories, from the Arctic to the Far East, from the French Riviera to Mont Saint-Michel and Compiègne, all united under a single celestial expanse.
Through this recurring motif, the artist suggests both the unity of the world and the fragility of human existence. The variations in light, soft or brilliant, cold or golden, convey subtle emotions: serenity, nostalgia, wonder. Her clouds seem to float on the surface of the canvas, at the boundary between figuration and abstraction, revealing nature's capacity to inspire peace and a sense of the sublime.
This series is a silent meditation on the harmony between humanity and the world, on beauty, the ephemeral, and the invisible thread that connects us all under the same sky.
