Numbered and signed on 320 by Bordalo II.
This sculptural assembly translates the figure of a lynx through an ecological prism. The artist transforms industrial waste into a striking animal portrait. Each element finds a second life. Wood, plastic, and ceramic unite to reconstruct the face of the feline.
The gaze is marked by two deep green irises, fixing the viewer with precision. Heterogeneous textures intertwine. Fragments of recovered materials imitate the fur and the features of the face. The turquoise blue background, worked with spray paint, creates a sharp contrast with the earthy tones of the sculpture.
This work is part of a sustainability approach. It questions our relationship with consumption and waste. The accumulation of used objects becomes here a tool for environmental awareness. The composition plays on the reliefs and asperities of the wooden support. The details, such as the white whiskers and the pink nose, bring a touch of finesse to the whole.
The work combines the codes of street art with the rigor of mural sculpture. It transforms debris into a noble subject. The whole rests on a rough wooden panel with irregular edges.
Presentation
I was born in Lisbon, 1987. I belong to a generation that is extremely consumerist, materialist and greedy. With the production of things at its highest, the production of "waste" and unused objects is also at its highest. "Waste" is quoted because of its abstract definition: "one man's trash is another man's treasure". I create, recreate, assemble and develop ideas with end-of-life material and try to relate it to sustainability, ecological and social awareness.
