Description
L'envol by Lionel Wodecki is a bronze sculpture that captures with remarkable accuracy the fragile moment when movement is born from silence. Depicting an owl at the precise instant of takeoff, the work seems to suspend time: the wings unfold in a fluid curve, the body tenses, ready to leave its point of support.
The bronze work, enhanced by a subtly mottled black patina, catches the light with restraint and gives the sculpture an almost vibrating depth. The elegant stylization of the animal, far removed from descriptive naturalism, favors the essence of gesture and the dynamic energy of flight.
The beechwood base, understated and warm, anchors the sculpture in the living material of wood, creating a balanced dialogue between the density of bronze and the organic softness of the support. This contrast heightens the impression of elevation and lightness, as if the bird were breaking free from matter.
Awarded at the National Salon of Animal Artists, fully embodies Lionel Wodecki's art: a sculpture of suspended movement, capturing the instant just before the irreversible, where strength, grace, and silence converge.

Lionel Wodecki, born in 1970 in Somain, has always been a draftsman, a designer by trade, and now an animal artist since 2023.
Simplicity has always been the driving force behind his work as a designer, but the study of living things has revealed a new dimension in him: the art of suspended movement and capturing the moment.
His sculptures exude a serene beauty mixed with paradox, between strength and fragility, animal inspiration and human resonance, as if the animals he staged were endowed with psychology.
