Biography
I am Alexandra Papafotiou, an artist, I work in the technique of oil painting, watercolor, graphics. I also have a small studio where I teach drawing for children and adults.
My purpose in art is to capture the beauty of simple things onto the canvas. I get inspired by watching the course of quiet village life.
Probably, doors, tables full of food and cats around them - all attributes of Cypriot village life, are especially dear to me, because it reminds me of my childhood in Ukraine in my village, making me wish to live like that again.
Those sweet motifs resonate in my work about my two beloved homelands, Ukraine, where I was born, and Cyprus, where my children were born.
I graduated from the Donetsk State Art Collage in 1988 and the Kharkov Academy of Arts in 1996 . In 1997 I moved to Cyprus and started working as an artist. Continuing my work I hope to keep improvement of those motives of Cypriot and Ukrainian life that I love so much.
