Jean-Roch Klethi

A qualified architect, holder of a DEA in History and Civilizations from EHESS in Paris, he created his first major exhibition at the age of 19, one year after his baccalaureate in plastic arts. After his studies, he pursued a continuing artistic activity and a career as an urban planner. He now devotes himself mainly to artistic creation.
While taking on very diverse forms over time, his creations have in common that they always seek to play with light. Captivated since his adolescence by textures, particularly those provided by landscapes of vineyards and fields of wheat or sunflowers, he is fascinated by the incredible force of enchantment that the evening or morning light brings to them when it plays with these textured surfaces, creating ephemeral but lively moires and undulations. This is how he has for some time now started using textile fibers, mainly linen and jute, in order to create textured surfaces which he then colors, notably by splashing and misting liquid color. . Little by little, he built a very personal world in this way where textures and colors combine to give life to these creations. And their unique ability to respond to changes in light is not the least of their appeal.
