Description

I would like my painting to reach "the eye in its wild state", which would be able to read beyond our culture, intuitively and immediately, the intimate affects, feelings or emotions of the human being given over to his passions, derelictions, expectations and conflagrations.

My painting is a representation of the thought of affects, feelings or intimate emotions, by abstract figures that I call "symbolic figures of thought": these "figures" can be geometric or "informal", in a relationship of forces where reason structures or exalts passions.

The meaning of painting emerges in the communication of the gaze of the one who gives and the one who receives.

What an inner necessity has shaped in the making of an image is precisely what cannot or will not be said by spoken words, which will always only approach the meaning without exhausting it.

It is a pictorial world that speaks of waiting, of the power of desire, of love at first sight, and its darkness, of a vast emptiness and intimate void. Of existential angst, of dereliction, of the strength of possibility, of revolution, of hope, of the extremes of torment and serenity.

That is why I prefer to question the gaze of others for the interpretation they may have of these abstract figures, at the edge of the horizon line.

The horizon line is a recurring motif in my painting.

"The horizon line cuts through the space of my canvas"

The distant future to await, the goal to reach.

(See the video: "How black sows seeds within us" (4 min 25 sec) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3E_vY7mUXf4)

The horizon line is the image of a future, seen from the present moment.

Epiphany, appearance.

In this painting, through the depth of the blue and black glazes, there is an idea of infinity, of losing sight, of a frantic flight from oneself, where the idea dear to the Romantics of Man's insignificance in the face of a nature that surpasses him surfaces.

The horizon line separates a top and a bottom, as in the Platonic world where there would be a Heaven and an underworld submerged in the Passions.

Presentation

"There is in painting and photography this strange power to establish a yet unprecedented complicity with the viewer: perhaps that of still unacknowledged emotions." Corine Sylvia Congiu

Corine Sylvia Congiu, born August 5, 1953 in Meknes, Morocco, is a contemporary French artist of Sardinian descent. She lives and works in Varennes-Jarcy, in Essonne.

After being accepted for the Plastic Arts aggregation, she completed a DEA in Aesthetics, two years of philosophy at La Sorbonne while undertaking a career as a painter.

Protean visual artist whose preferred medium remains painting, however, where she is situated as "radically abstract, in a gestural and expressionist movement", she also practices drawing, photography, video, publishes a novel and several short stories, for which she wins a few awards.

Since 1987, she regularly exhibits her works in galleries (Galeries Jean, Keller, Génie de la Bastille in Paris, About Art in Argenteuil, Galerie Depardieu in Nice), salons (Villeparisis, Montrouge, Comparaisons, Première Vision, Art Cité ...), Cultural centers (Institut du Monde Arabe...) Museums (Brunoy and Museum of Damascus, Syria) and other notable places (Saint-Nicolas Sables d'Olonne Priory, Saint Nicolas Chapel, Croissy sur Seine)

From 1995, his works were exhibited successively in Moscow, Seoul, Hong Kong, Alexandria, Genoa, San Francisco, Algiers, Damascus, Chicago, Rio de Janeiro, Vienna, Ferrara, Vooburg. In 1992, she carried out a Public Order, a painted environment (floor, walls and columns) with a total area of 350 m2 in the hall of the Lycée Hugues-Capet in Senlis.

In 1998, winner of the City of Evry Competition, Abolition of slavery, she completed a painting of 10 m × 2 m, which she donated to the Telethon.

From 1994, she collaborated regularly as an actress and scenographer, in the work of Luc Fritsch, playwright and director: She created the entire pictorial environment, at the Théâtre de l'Hôpital Ephémère, i.e. 25 projected paintings on the big screen (3m x 4m) of the theatrical performance "Ruins / After-Vietnam through the survival of a couple" and provides the leading female role. She participated in the sets and created the leading role in "La Ballade des mégots secs", a play by Bernard Mazéas, directed by Luc Fritsch in 1999 in the Cave à Théâtre in Colombes.

In 2004, for a commission from the Art Dialogue Foundation under the aegis of the Institut de France, she executed the installation Histoire d'une ligne, ten monumental canvases of 400 cm × 200 cm and 200 cm × 200 cm on the walls of the City of Yerres, and obtains a purchase by the city.

In June 2014, she produced the paintings and drawings for Cosmophonies, a double-voice show conceived at the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord by Hubert Reeves as part of the Festival Jazz Nomades.

She publishes texts in academic journals, developing a theory of Abstract Figures, which distinguishes her work from traditional lyrical abstraction. Both gestural and geometric, these Figures of thought play like a rebus of superimposed signs in the watermark of the canvas: "My painting is an open place where a theater of abstract figures is played out, which have an energy, a journey, a role within actions that form a dramaturgy. »
