Description
In Dead Hornet, Igor Galan turns a humble subject into a luminous allegory of life and transience. The composition centres on a lifeless hornet, painted with exceptional precision and warmth. Its golden wings and amber tones seem to vibrate against the soft yellow background, radiating both serenity and fragility.
Galan's mastery of light recalls the still lifes of the Baroque period, yet his treatment is resolutely contemporary – stripped of context, the insect becomes a metaphysical object, a meditation on time and the beauty of endings. Igor Galan (born 1973, Ukraine) is known for his emotionally charged realism and poetic symbolism. His works balance meticulous observation with quiet philosophical reflection. Presentation
Igor Galan (b. 1964, Lviv, Ukraine) is a master of painting and graphic arts, known for his ability to seamlessly blend classical techniques with contemporary themes. A graduate of the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture, Galan has exhibited internationally, including in Berlin, Chicago, and Kyiv. His notable works, such as the 4-meter satirical painting “Gorbachev and His 15 Republics," showcase his talent for political commentary and visual storytelling. Held in prestigious collections, including the National Art Museum of Ukraine and Berlin's Museum Haus am Checkpoint Charlie, Galan's art reflects his mastery of both technical skill and conceptual depth. Currently, he splits his time between Kyiv, Nice, and Paris, continuing to push boundaries in his creative practice.
