Description
With “Sunlit Walls of the Old Monastery" (2024), Igor Galan turns a historical structure into a living canvas of color and light. Painted in oil on canvas, the composition focuses on weathered arches and ivy-covered stone, suffused with Mediterranean brightness. Galan's deft brushwork renders stone surfaces and foliage with equal vibrancy, capturing a fleeting moment of stillness.
The artist's long interest in the interplay between man-made forms and organic growth is evident here. Ivy and trees climb across the façade, softening its outlines and hinting at stories buried in time. The strong yet subtle color harmonies give the work a lyrical quality, evoking not just a place but a mood – one of contemplation, nostalgia, and renewal.
For collectors seeking a painting that bridges traditional architecture and contemporary painterly expression, this work offers a deeply satisfying presence. Its scale makes it suitable for display as a focal point in a living room, library, or office, where its texture and light will reward repeated viewing.
