Presentation

Appaloosa is a young French artist, born in 1990.

He did his studies at Beaux-Arts in several French cities, Beaune, Annecy and Marseille. He began his career in graphic design at an events agency, but in 2014 he decided to embark on a professional career, as an artist.

Appaloosa's work is derived from several visual art techniques, especially collages made with torn paper. He makes up a huge base of current and modern images, from several journals.

This laceration technique of posters isn't new but Appaloosa uses it to denounce the idiosyncrasy of our consuming society. From these societal images, the artist develops a critical vocabulary.

Appaloosa's work might portray evident disorder, the lacerations might seem to have been combined randomly to make up a new image. The artist tries to reverse the usual codes of art: the theme becomes the medium and viceversa.
