Description
This captivating work features a poignant portrait of a woman, a football supporter. Her figure is constructed from torn and collaged paper fragments, creating a sense of dynamism.
Her resolute and thoughtful gaze contrasts with the vibrant and abstract touches in the background, where bursts of green, red, and yellow intertwine.
Bold paint streaks appear to leap off the canvas, reflecting raw and spontaneous energy. The calligraphic elements add a distinct street-art dimension, bringing a sense of depth and intensity.
Presentation
Appaloosa is a French artist. He studied at the Beaux-Arts in several French cities, between Beaune, Marseille and Annecy.
He began a career as a graphic designer with an event agency, but in 2014 he left his job and began a career as a professional artist, which took him to various countries and to receive several awards.
Appaloosa's works are the result of several plastic techniques, including collage from papers torn by the artist.
He built up a vast collection of current and modern images collected from magazines and posters.
Thus, Appaloosa recycles images specific to our current society and reconstructs, from these testimonies, a work in its own right. Appaloosa's works sometimes display an almost semi-abstract disorder, in compositions as colorful as they are dynamic.
The artist seeks to reverse the usual codes of a canvas: the subject becomes matter, and vice versa.
