Description
This work depicts a seaside lifeguard post, made entirely from paper collages.
The layers of blue from the sky contrast sharply with the yellow and red structure of the cabin. The textured, fragmented style gives the composition a dynamic, modern dimension. The cleverly integrated pieces of printed paper add an urban, contemporary feel to the seaside scene. Appaloosa uses the juxtaposition of bold colors and text fragments to evoke the vitality and vibrancy of coastal life.
The collage technique creates a sense of movement and depth, capturing the essence of a sunny day on America's legendary beaches. The interplay of volume and shadow reinforces the imposing presence of the lifeguard post against the bright blue sky, demonstrating remarkable originality and creativity.
Presentation
Appaloosa is a French artist. He studied at the Beaux-Arts in several French cities, between Beaune, Marseille and Annecy.
He began a career as a graphic designer with an event agency, but in 2014 he left his job and began a career as a professional artist, which took him to various countries and to receive several awards.
Appaloosa's works are the result of several plastic techniques, including collage from papers torn by the artist.
He built up a vast collection of current and modern images collected from magazines and posters.
Thus, Appaloosa recycles images specific to our current society and reconstructs, from these testimonies, a work in its own right. Appaloosa's works sometimes display an almost semi-abstract disorder, in compositions as colorful as they are dynamic.
The artist seeks to reverse the usual codes of a canvas: the subject becomes matter, and vice versa.
