Susan Maers

Born in: 1960

Susan Maers is a French painter, born in 1960.

She paints different styled feminine figures. We can decipher features of the Virgin Mary, faces are built according to Renaissance, but also a play with overlays, which is more modern and contemporary.

The aspect which seems to dominate her work is the look. The face makes the painting vibrate through emotions. It is portrayed through different angles and light, giving it new originality, until the series is completed.

Red is dominant and recurring in the artist's work. A color which reminds her of childhood, a trauma due to an accident her mother went through.

Her works are exhibited throughout France today.
