  • About the artwork

    Wall sculpture. size 107x37 inches.
Zinc sculpture from the Roofs of Paris and other places...
Once cleaned the skin of the gutter lets appear the stigmas of the past, the memory of several rainy decades, wind, sun slices of life.

A simple thorough review, without other intervention of the artist, and he composes with zinc plates letting speak the poetry of this new writing the abstract middle, at the middle-representational artist.
He so gives a second life to drawings revealed for a new interpretation a revival which leaves all its place with the imagination.

Pascal Catry

Born in: 1957

Pascal Catry was born in 1961 in Montmorency, France.

Already at the age of 13 he discovered Niki de St Phalle at the Beaubourg Centre (Paris), which triggered his passion for sculpture. He worked with a number of materials, but his encounter with M. D. Dado and Caroline Lee were determinant for his choice of zinc as his material of predilection.

Pascal is rescuing zinc from ending in a dumping place. Each piece is marked by usage and being submitted to natural elements. It is therefore unique and displays a certain “personality” like a face marked by life.

Pascal Catry’s art works are varied. He produces sculptures that evoke landscape paintings or photography, of all sizes ranging from post cards to huge frescos that can cover a whole wall. He has also covered large artefact such as a piano and cars with zinc plates and has been commissioned public sculptures such as a wind mill 6 meters high.

This is a sober and delicate form of art that appeals to the poesy that lies in each of us.
