Art scandal

Art is sulfurous. It comes and goes between being provocative and censorship, transgressions and taboos , scandals and social models in order to construct a new image of art day to day. None of the themes that deal with the notion of law and order and morality are left aside : religion, politics, economy, sex and beliefs.

At every era, these topics have been explored and transgressed, as if being provocative has always been a tool in the hands of artists. The goal is to bring a new outlook on the world and upset codes to help society always put in question its « founding principles » and evolve.

Artists are provocative either through the topic they portray or medium they use as is the case in Marcel Duchamp’s ready-mades. This type of work is even more prevalent in times of political instability or social conflict. Defiant artworks now appear as a major part of contemporary art, which proves the undeniable fact that art no longer limits itself to aesthetic considerations.

The world is not an ideal and peaceful place… a good thing for artists that would risk losing their biggest source of inspiration !
