Pop art is an art movement associated to artists of the 60s such as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and James Rosenquist. However since the 50s, popular culture and mass media have remained a worldwide source of inspiration. Pop art defined itself in opposition to traditional movements that dealt with themes of morality, history and official portraits. The point was to represent modern daily life through the people and ordinary things in it in order to elevate popular culture to the rank of fine art.

Even today contemporary artists still find inspiration in the Pop Art movement and pursue the fight it began by continuing to blur the limit between noble and popular forms of art. In referring to symbols of our mass consumption society and distorting images of celebrities, Pop art is in constant renewal and offers an increasingly vast array of artworks.
