Biographie
Jose Sierra (né en 1991 à Cartagena de Indias, Colombie) a obtenu sa maîtrise en beaux-arts de l'Institut universitaire des beaux-arts et des sciences de Bolivar (UNIBAC) en 2012 avec un corpus intitulé Anti-Personnel Grids, qui a depuis exposé dans différents endroits de la Colombie. Peu de temps après, il a été chargé par le ministère colombien de la Culture aux côtés du collectif d'artistes Si Nos Pagan Boys de participer à une exposition d'art urbain intitulée La Muerte Se Va de Vacaciones (Death is Going on Vacation) qui a été exécutée en réaction à la traditionalisme de Carthagène. En 2014, il expose au Musée d'Art Contemporain de Carthagène et à La Presentacion Casa Museo Arte y Cultura. Il a ensuite exposé au Centre Culturel Ciudad Movil en 2016 avec un corpus réalisé en collaboration avec le photographe colombien Camo. La même année, il est nominé pour le Prix international d'art luxembourgeois pour son œuvre récente Self-Portrait. Le travail en cours de Sierra continue d'être basé sur sa représentation de soi à partir de laquelle il aborde un regard homoérotique à travers la configuration d'environnements mis en scène abjects dans lesquels il fusionne comme «un sujet de création esthétique».
