Myke Venable

"With our thoughts, we make the world. What you think, you become. What you feel, you attract. What you imagine, you create." This quote attributed to the Buddha illustrates the vision of Myke Venable's new body of work, which embodies a shift in consciousness and awareness of the world. 

Influenced by the minimalist approaches of artists such as Sol Lewitt, Mark Rothko, Agnes Martin, and Donald Judd, Venable seeks to strip his canvases down to the basics of composition, using an intuitive process to determine their geometry and colors. By subtly shifting the center of balance, Venable encourages us to allow our own perspectives to shift.

Myke Venable was born in Port Arthur, Texas in 1966 and received his BFA and MFA from Lamar University. His work is reviewed in "New American Paintings West" Vol 102 and is in collections such as Hess Energy and Puffer Sweven in Houston, and the Museum of Geometric and MADI Art in Dallas. His work is marketed in the United States and abroad. He has worked in New York and currently lives and works in Houston.
