Presentation
Bounoure and Genevaux are an inspiring duo of contemporary artists known for their innovative use of materials and their playful approach to shapes. They have become masters of a subject which is also their method, The fold. Their work ranges from folded canvas sculptures to mirrored installations, but what really sets them apart is their ability to create dynamic, eye-catching pieces that draw the viewer in and invite them to interact.
One of their most notable series is the cut-out folded canvases, which take traditional painting techniques and push them to new heights. By folding, crumpling and cutting the canvas, Bounoure and Genevaux create intricate three-dimensional compositions that seem to dance and move before the viewer's eyes. They are either shaped on a folded support, or mounted on a classic canvas. The effect is hypnotic, as the artists play with light, shadow and texture to create a sense of depth and movement.
