Description
This bronze sculpture (EA 1/4) depicts a female figure emerging from a block of rough stone. The dynamic fusion of smooth silhouette and rough textures demonstrates a mastery of sculptural art. The woman's delicately inclined head and serene face immediately captivate the eye. Subtle details, including the facial features and elegant posture, add to the work's almost mystical dimension. The work plays with light and shadow, accentuating the graceful curves and raw strength of the rocky base.

Jean-Philippe Richard is a French sculptor, born in Paris in 1947.
Jean-Philippe Richard has been working as a sculptor for over 3 decades. He offers a unique approach to the practice of molding by deciding to explore exclusively the subject of woman, which he depicts idealistically.
A self-taught artist, Jean-Philippe Richard sculpts without relying on a model, this allows him to sculpt freely and even get away from the restrictions of reality. This artist is an accomplished technician whose first bronze pieces were cast in an artisan foundry that he created in the Provencal village where he has been living since mid-70s.
The sculpted works of Jean-Philippe Richard are easily recognizable by their finished shape, they seem stuck in a wrought support. The rendering is always an amazing piece of art that offers a balance between a figure that appears to be trapped in a mass and the momentum of the piece which appears to be able to escape at any time.
The influence of Rodin, which is obvious in his works, is also declared by Jean-Philippe Richard. Jean-Philippe Richard gives contemporary sculptures a renewal and sobriety, which gives the female figure a classical statuary appearance.
