Art is a way of seeing the external form of a secret world.

Biography

Henry Moore was an English artist , born in 1898 and died in 1986.

Born into a working-class family, Henry Moore was one of the first sculptors to bring a distinctive form of artistic modernism to British society in the early 20th century, drawing inspiration from primitive art.

Henry Moore achieved great success from the 1930s onward; he taught at several universities, and his creations quickly reached the top of the art market. By the late 1940s, he was considered the voice of British sculpture , having achieved worldwide renown. However, as his recognition and popularity grew, particularly through commissions, he preferred to live simply after the end of World War II and devoted most of his income to the Henry Moore Association to support education, promotion, and the dissemination of art.

Henry Moore's sculptures were primarily inspired by the female body, and he gradually moved toward more abstract and elongated forms. His signature motif was an elongated figure, and he worked primarily in monumental bronze. He created numerous works documenting the Blitz during World War II in London, which are housed in the British Museum.
