Gelitin
Austria • 1978
Presentation
The Gelitin is a collective of Austrian artists based in Vienna and New York, which counts among its members Wolfgang Gantner, Ali Janka, Florian Reitcher and Tobias Urban.
All born between 1966 and 1970, they produce interactive installations and performances dedicated to freeing the emotions and desires held back by society. Contrary to a large number of Viennese artists who use pain, the Gelitin seeks more to capture the sensual pleasures of the body in works tinged with humor. Chaotic, absurd and cocacious, their stories imbued with sometimes raw erotic references.
The largest galleries in the world such as Perrotin or Gagosian welcome their work. They also performed at the Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris.
