Biography
Born in 1972, Liu Wei is a Chinese mutli-media artist based in Beijing. He graduated from China Academy of Art, Hangzhou in 1996.
Wei incorporates readymade and everyday items into his work, which can take the form of painting, sculpture, photography or an installation. The discarded materials are transformed into works which are characterized by satire and humor.
Wei has held several international solo exhibitions of his work, most recently at White Cube, Florida (2022), White Cube Bermondsey, London (2021) and Long Museum, Shanghai (2020).
