Biography
jean-Claude LE FLOC'H was born on May 22, 1945 in BRECH (56). He died suddenly on August 25, 2009. The meeting with a press that had belonged to Adolphe Beaufrère undoubtedly fixes the path which should lead him to the engraving. In 1969, it is the departure for Paris. He entered the workshop of the engraver Manuel Robbe where he was introduced to the practice of intaglio, then he printed the Surrealist boards including those of Max Ernst or Matta. The return to Brittany took place in 1973. He moved to Plouhinec (56) In his workshop he brought back a press from his stay in Paris; He found his own expression, served by a virtuoso technique, drypoint, etching and above all aquatint which gave another dimension to his work, allowing him to play on an infinite variety of colored shades, moving like sea water and the color of clouds. From 1973 he numbered his first personal prints and organized them in variations: "his opus". A complicity with writers and poets and the meeting of texts led him to make many illustrations of illustrated and engraved books. The work of Jean-Claude Le Floc'h gives us to see through its construction full of figures of strength, its subtle chromaticism nuanced with variations where the natural elements are transfigured by the personal alchemy of the engraver somewhat served by a photograph.
