Smérieau, multidisciplinary artist
Sébastien Mérieau's work forges links between the human being and what surrounds him thanks to his series of faces. His works take various forms whose unity is anchored in the search for evocative, rhythmic lines and symbolic colors. All in nuances and contrasts, the interplay of materials and materials then enhance the portraits. They come from studies that take their origin in the imagination or in the encounters, moods and readings that are illustrated in a system of emotional resonances.
Yet emotion is a central component of Smérieau's work. He thus experiments, in painting or mosaic, to suggest it in the filigree of his faces with intense gazes and poignant expressions. His work forms a kaleidoscope of moments of life which, placed end to end, draws the landscape of the human soul, between anguish, optimism, loneliness and lightness; like so many echoes of our own life course, both sayable and inexpressible.
