Eva Bodinet, plastic artist and photographer, lives and works in Saint-Ouen. As far back as she can remember, Eva draws. There followed very naturally for Eva, first step, first word, first letter drawn, first drawing…. Born in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, she grew up in Monheim, a small country town crossed by the Rhine. It is at school that she will find multiple tools to express her creativity, especially in high school where a teacher makes her work drawing, painting, engraving, collage…. It still retains this facility today to switch from one medium to another, from one technique to another. During her university studies in fine arts in Paderborn, Eva Bodinet devoted herself more to photography. Her studies led her to settle for a time in Wuppertal, town of Pina Bauch, where the first suspended metro was built, then in Berlin where Eva fell under the spell of the U-bahn, the Berlin metro. In the stations, she is struck by the reflections, the color schemes of the tiles, the alignments and the pure and simple beauty of these spaces. With her eye fixed behind her device, she frames, amid the sad indifference of the passengers waiting for the next train. From that moment on, wherever she goes, Helsinki, Cologne, Munich, Lisbon, Moscow, London…. Eva photographs the metro and sometimes chooses her travel destinations just because there is a metro! In the early 2000s, she moved to Paris, began working for Magnum, where she is now the director of archives. From Paris, Eva continued her participation in a collective of artists from Cologne, at the artclub Köln associative gallery for ten years. Today, she has set up her workshop in Saint-Ouen. Eva Bodinet is participating in the TransPorts exhibition from November 16, 2018 to December 6, 2019 at the Galerie LastJours.
