Biography

Christina Fytili is based in Athens. She studied at the Fine arts school in the Aristote Thessaloniki University, where she developed her style and unique approach. Fytili also studied art therapy at the Accademia di Belle Arti de Macerata and obtained a Masters in education from the Universita degli Studi di Roma Tre de Rome in Italy.

Her work in art therapy and education reinforced her belief that art adorns the power to heal wounds, nourish spirits and expand horizons. In order to portray the capacity of art and how it encapsulates a vast specter of human emotions, Fytili uses personal and universally accessible work. Her paintings come into being through a dynamic mix of mediums on canvas, wood, plaster, wood adhesives, hagiography powder, coffee filters, sand and zinc. Her mediums lead to direct experiences without concealing anything. Fytili not only uses these tools to build her creations but they are also part of her final compositions. They represent emotional and empirical fluctuations of life, surfaces. The spectator is encouraged to experiment with the works by touching it, looking at it and smelling it for a more personal analysis, accentuated by tactile memories and olfactory feelings.

Christina Fytili's work has been exhibited in London, Italy, Greece and Belgium.
