Golnaz Afraz

Golnaz Afraz, an Iranian artist, who was born in Tehran in 1981. Golnaz attended the University of Azad in Tehran for her undergraduate studies in painting. She has also received two Masters of Arts in Fine Art: the first of these degrees conferred by University of Tarbiat Modarres in Tehran in 2007 and the second in 2011 by the University of Strasbourg in France. 

In the paintings of Golnaz Afraz, there is no other topic than painting. Honestly, the color sets, the superposition of forms, plans and instant compositions in her paintings, give multiple visions to her works. As if the artist has painted the reality in several layers and parallel angles. She is like a filmmaker who is making a film. She creates her scenes on paper and canvas. The exciting thing for her is the strange conflict that sometimes occurs between what a painting seems to say (or she tells us) and what it shows us (how it tells us so).
