Biography

Mieke Jonker, born in Vaassen in 1963 and residing in Gennep (NL) began her artistic journey as a goldsmith at Vakschool Schoonhoven 1999-2003.

After viewing Rembrandt's portrait of Haesje van Cleyburh in the Rijksmuseum of Amsterdam she only wanted to paint.

She studied at the the Academy of Fine Arts in Arendonk (B), specializing in portrait/model in 2008-2013.

Specialization Academy of Fine Arts:

 degree with honourable mention 2013-2016.

In her paintings she seeks to capture the quit beauty of still interiors. Inviting the viewers to image themselves within the scene, where a dog is sometimes present. She uses vibrant colors and strong contrasts to define these scenes.  Executed with free and expressive touch,
