Biography

Samah Shihadi is a Palestinian artist whose work explores identity, memory, gender, family, tradition, and the social realities of Palestinian life. Working primarily through detailed drawing and hyperrealist techniques, she transforms personal and familial experiences into broader reflections on society, particularly on women’s roles, cultural traditions, and patriarchal structures. Her meticulous approach creates a tension between the stillness of the image and the complex social and psychological questions within it.

Born in Sha’ab village in the western Galilee in 1987, Shihadi studied art and education at Oranim Academic College before completing her Master’s degree in Fine Arts at the University of Haifa. Her work has been presented in several exhibitions inside and outside Palestine. She has received several awards, including the Ismail Shammout Award in Fine Art and the Ministry of Culture and Sport Young Artist Award. Shihadi currently lives and works in Haifa.
