Luis Maraver is a Spanish contemporary artist whose practice is grounded in a sustained exploration of material, surface, and the temporal dimension of painting. His work is characterized by a process-driven approach in which pigments, binders, and often natural or mineral elements are layered, altered, and reworked over time.
Rather than treating painting as a purely representational medium, Maraver approaches it as a site of transformation. Its compositions frequently emerge through accumulation and erosion, where forms are not immediately given but gradually revealed through successive interventions. This method results in surfaces that retain visible traces of their own making, allowing the viewer to perceive time as an active component within the work.
His visual language operates between abstraction and figuration.
