Joan Peris about the Arquitectures de Barcelona series: “These photographs depict Barcelona’s architecture, and their style is derived from my work on canvas. My collection of paintings, Visions Fragments suggests cities and human constructions, while my photos not only portray these elements, they also offer an exaggerated yet serene vision of a city that already seems familiar and is instantly recognisable; an impossible, chaotic place where people live and life happens. Visually, I use very pale tones and play with black and white to emphasise the photographic feel. This series reflects a cosmopolitan, tolerant as well as permeable Barcelona that is able to assimilate and share.The aim of the Architecture of Barcelona photos is to satisfy the spectator’s curiosity and desire to observe”.
