Born in 1966, Regina Gimenez is one of the most famous artists of the Catalan and Spanish scene and
has a regular representation in Europe and the United States. In the works of the early years, her paintings were inhabited with lighthouses, towers and buildings abandoned and imbued with a certain romantic nostalgia.
Then, they are increasingly focused towards internal architectures where timeless human silhouettes appear discreetly, almost transparent, and hence a certain serenity untap. The last series that we presented is a collection of paintings in which the artist takes height, while disturbing the views of scales. On a world map background painted on a canvas material already worn in past weeks on the workshop floor, she overlaps and integrates papers from architectural magazines of the 50's.
Her technique, recognizable, combines painting to put in thick plates, voluntarily peeling, in various collages of fabrics and paper (often) almost melted in this organic matter. This unique mix highlights the strength and fragility of her imaginary perspectives.
