American artists

Jill Dowell is a contemporary painter. Graduated in singing, she developed a passion for painting in 2014. Art has spanned her life, moving from music, to singing and finally to painting.

Beginning first of all by copying well-known artists, she has developed her own practice. She mainly devotes herself to acrylic painting on different supports, such as canvas, wood or paper. The artist is constantly looking for new techniques and methods. With the use of various tools and supports, his creative process is thus renewed. Its goal is to define and create new shapes and textures, while mixing colors.

Using an intuitive process, she strives to showcase designs that create an emotional dialogue. In 2017, she received a nomination for Palm Art Award in Germany. The artist has an interest in Impressionism, especially for the artist Claude Monet, through the notion of the instantaneous, in other words the capture of both the lights present and the atmosphere of his landscapes. In addition, she attaches importance to Post-Impressionism, in particular for the artist Vincent Van Gogh, by its patterns, the movement, the freedom that emerge from it through her paintings.

Finally, it is through the influence of the German expressionist artist Emil Nolde that the use of bright colors, for example red and yellow, in Jill's works emanates. His artistic approach consists in transcribing his thoughts as well as his passion for music, through his painting. She wants to create optical illusions through color. But also, she seeks to capture and express the unspeakable… Jill Dowell lives and works in Paris, France.
